Christian Pulisic and His Mother Kelley Pulisic
The family of American professional soccer player Christian Pulisic includes his mother, Kelley Pulisic, and father, Mark Pulisic. They live in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
While playing for Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, Pulisic has managed to stay on the top of his game. However, he has faced several injuries throughout his career.
Christian Pulisic grew up in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where both of his parents are coaches of soccer. He suited up for a local development academy, PA Classics.
A whirlwind career path has led the Hershey-native to becoming one of the world’s most sought-after players. But he never imagined he would be playing at the top level for the U.S. national team and Borussia Dortmund.
The family moved to England for a year when Pulisic was just seven, after his mother received a Fulbright scholarship to work on a teaching exchange. She was a soccer fanatic who got to know the English game as she coached kids at Brackley Town, a sixth-tier club eight miles north of Oxford.
It wasn’t long before the young Hershey native showed that he had the skills to be an attacking player on the field. That’s when he started to get noticed by the PA Classics, a development academy. He was given a chance to play with older age groups in the program, something that typically doesn’t happen.
Borussia Dortmund is Germany’s top soccer club, a team that has won numerous titles and been represented in major international competitions. They have a rich history, including being founded by a group of young people who were not happy with how their church-sponsored football team was led by the local chaplain.
They have a long tradition of youth development and are a popular club with a huge fan base. The team has won many domestic and international titles and is known for their free-flowing, attacking style of play.
When he started playing, Pulisic was a child who was always looking for ways to improve his skills. He spent hours practicing his ball control and emulating the moves of his idols, including Wayne Rooney and Luis Figo.
It took him a while to mature physically and gain the size and strength he needed to play at a higher level, but that is starting to happen. He is now a 5-7 player and has added 135 pounds to his frame.
United States national team
The United States national team is one of the top soccer teams in the world. Its young players and coach Gregg Berhalter bring excitement to the field.
A Hershey native, attacking midfielder and winger Christian Pulisic has been an unstoppable force for this group. His ability to stay fit and carry the attack will be crucial in this tournament.
He scored the lone goal in the USA’s 1-0 win over Iran on Tuesday. In the first half, he charged the net, lunged into the air, reached out his right foot and perfectly directed Sergino Dest’s headed cross into the net.
He’s also a key cog in the middle of the pitch, helping to string passes together, win possession back and keep the ball calm. Tyler Adams is an engine in midfield, generating turnovers and helping to build possession out of the back.
Christian Pulisic’s mother Kelley is a devoted supporter of her husband and son. She is also a successful businesswoman.
She met her husband, Mark, at a young age and they have been together for more than three decades. They have a daughter, Devyn, and two sons, Chase Gallant and Christian Pulisic.
Kelley earned a Fulbright Scholarship and the chance to teach in Woodstock, England, in a teacher’s exchange program for a year from 2007-2008. She brought Christian along, allowing him to experience traveling abroad early on.
During this time, he played in the English Premier League.
In addition, he coached Lebanon Valley College’s men’s team until 2005 and started a new women’s program at the institution as well.
During this time, he also moved to Germany for two years with his then-17-year-old son Christian when he joined Borussia Dortmund. He only returned after his son secured a professional contract with the club at age 18. This move was made to be with his son, but it turned out to be difficult because he missed home and his wife.
