The 3 Essentials To Help Become A Digital Nomad

There are a lot of people that decide to give up their office job and work remotely. They are called digital nomads and they are able to travel the world while they work. Since you only need an internet connection for many remote jobs these days, they have decided that there is no point in staying in one place.

If this sounds enticing then you may want to consider becoming a digital nomad as well. It does need some preparation done ahead of time to pull it off, however. Traveling always needs planning so you can get the most out of the trip. Being a digital nomad takes this planning to another level. In this article, we will go over several of the essentials to think about to become a digital nomad.

1 – Have your accommodation planned

Since you plan to be able to work while traveling it is important to have a place to stay arranged before you leave. There are a number of short-term rentals that you can get no matter what city you plan on traveling to next. For instance, these are some month to month rentals Toronto has for travelers that plan to stay a few months.

Make sure to book these ahead of time so that you aren’t scrambling to find a place to stay when you arrive. It will be difficult to get work done if you have to waste time looking for accommodations when you arrive.

Many of these places are set up for business travelers so they have things like wifi and usually even a dedicated space for work so you don’t have to think about getting a coworking place arranged.

2 – Research visas

If you plan to do international traveling then you will have to plan your destinations carefully. Many countries require visas to enter and sometimes your time there will be limited. You can’t simply show up to some places and be allowed through with no strings attached.

This means that you will have to put some time into researching what the visa requirements are for each country that you plan to visit. You may need to have the health insurance required to obtain a visa. Some places will allow you to apply for the visa at the airport as a formality. You may have to plan your itinerary based on which countries take the longest to process visas and which have none required.

3 – Figure out your banking situation

Whether you have a remote job with direct deposits or are working as a freelancer and rely on wire transfers to get paid, you need to have the right type of bank account to have full access to your funds when you are on the road.

The best way to go is to have an online bank account. When you are traveling to other countries you will want to be able to use a debit card without any fees and many online banks have this perk.
