2021 Olympics in Tokyo: when do they start? Opening ceremony
The Tokyo Olympics officially begin on July 23, 2021 and on that date there will be the official opening ceremony, with the lighting of the Olympic torch.
Olympics: when is the first day of competition?
Although the opening ceremony will take place on 23 July, the first races will start a few days earlier. So when do the 2021 Olympics competitions begin? The start date is Wednesday 21 July.

The number of Italians competing in the Tokyo 2021 Olympics is a record for the competition. The athletes who will represent Italy will be 383: 197 men and 186 women engaged in more than 30 different disciplines.

Where to see the 2021 Olympics on TV?
It will be possible to follow all the Olympic competitions on Discovery +. On the occasion of the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, it will be possible to subscribe to the service streaming at € 29.99 for twelve months. Discovery, however, will broadcast unencrypted on the channel NINE some selected events.
