The Undefeated NCAAF Teams this 2023
Collegiate football is making headlines, especially with nonstop action in Week 11 out of 15. Lately, Michigan went on their fourth game without head coach Jim Harbaugh. Alabama star player Jalen Milroe rewrites the team’s season with their win over Kentucky, and even Clemson’s Tyler Brown goes with a one-handed touchdown.
However, even with all these wild displays of football action, there are always those who stay above the rest. Here at Week 11, learn how these five teams stay undefeated in the NCAAF compared to others:
Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State takes first place with a 9-0 streak this season. This team entered the field with a thirst to win, especially as they opened the second half of the games with a 35-16 victory against Rutgers.
Ohio State desperately needed a second-half surge last November 4 at SHI Stadium, and they proved themselves as they sandwiched touchdown after touchdown. Here, Running Back TreVeyon Henderson led the Buckeyes as he carried the ball 22 times for over 128 yards. Also, Henderson’s attempts were perfectly paired with Tommy Eichenberg’s defense of 12 tackles.
The Buckeyes’ efforts weren’t for naught as they won and secured first place in the College Football Play-offs’ (CFP) rankings. Moreover, you’ll see this team in every NCAAF betting odds as they have the skill and grit to make their wild plays happen.
Georgia Bulldogs
It’s no wonder the Bulldogs made it to the list, as this team had their last undefeated season in 2022. Moreover, this team already has four CFP National titles under their record – 1942, 1980, 2021, and 2022.
Last year, Georgia dominated the Horned Frogs with a 65-7 victory, one of the most significant margins of victory in championship history. Also, Bulldog Stetson Bennett totaled six touchdowns for 304 yards, securing the team’s victory.
Georgia’s power continues this year, especially with their game against Ole Miss last November 10. The team went wild here as Carson Beck went for 306 yards and Kendall Milton for 127 yards.
The Bulldogs secured touchdowns for their four possessions, building a 28-14 lead in halftime. Soon after, the team cruised through the game and won with a 52-17 score. The Bulldogs proved they still have what it takes to be on top. Moreover, since this team has won back-to-back in 2021 and 2022, are they trying to secure another win this year?
Michigan Wolverines
Although Jim Harbaugh was absent for the game against Penn State last November 11, this proved no problem for the Michigan Wolverines. The team still played with continuous rushing attacks and strong defenses as they took the victory with a 24-15 score.
Moreover, Penn State entered the field as the nation’s best-rushing defense, yet they were crushed by Michigan’s game led by Blake Corum. The Running Back went for 145 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Wolverines with 227 yards on the ground. Not only this, but Corum also topped the game with a 48-career rushing touchdown.
Florida State Seminoles
Florida State Seminoles capped the 2022 season with a successful streak since they won ten games in 2016. Not only this, but they went on to be the highest-ranked team in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
This year, the team opened their campaign against Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers last September, where they went on to win with a 21-score difference. Although the Tigers built momentum at the start of the game, the Seminoles asserted their grit in the third quarter and finished it with a win.
Such grit continued as the team won their recent game against Miami 27-20 on November 12. Here, star player Keon Coleman went for a 57-yard punt return and a touchdown pass, and Trey Benson ran for two touchdowns. Overall, this team is undefeated in the ACC, holds a three-game winning streak against Miami, and victory over victory.
Washington Huskies
Although the Huskies had their undefeated season last 1991, there’s no telling this team’s potential in 2023. This season, the Washington Huskies hold a record of 9-0, impressing fans with a win against No. 20 USC Trojans and No. 18 Utah Jazz.
Against the Trojans, Tailback Dillon Johnson surpassed triple digits in running yards before halftime, making a landmark performance for the team. Moreover, Johnson was only one part of the equation during the game. Michael Penix Jr. went for 256 yards and two scores.
Additionally, Devin Culp and Ja’Lynn Polk also rushed for touchdown passes. With these, Washington won the game with a powerful offensive, going in blow after blow with 10 points in the fourth quarter.
In their most recent game, it looked like the Utah Jazz would take the win with an incredible opening half. However, that didn’t last, as it came crumbling down with Washington’s defense. The Huskies chewed up most of Utah’s momentum in the latter half and won with a 35-28 score.
Final Thoughts
An undefeated season is what every collegiate football team dreams of, but only a select few, like the top five listed above, have the grit to achieve such. However, there is no telling what will happen in the upcoming games, so be sure to read up on the latest updates on the NCAAF.
