Above Ground vs In Ground Pools

Summer is here! If you haven’t already picked up a pool for the season, it’s not too late to start the installation process. The question is, what kind of pool do you want?

It can be a little hard to choose between above-ground and in-ground pools. There are many pros and cons of both models. On the one hand, you have sort of a limited budget.

On the other, you like the customization aspects of having an in-ground pool. We’re here to say that these aren’t the only factors you should keep in mind. Keep reading to learn which model of pool you should get.

Money

The first item on the agenda in the above-ground vs. in-ground pool debate is your wallet. Many factors can alter the price of both types.

We will tell you that overall, above-ground pools are the cheapest option. With the money you save by going with this model, you might have some cash left over for fun pool accessories for you and the kids.

Installation

When it comes to installation, you can put in an above-ground pool on your own. Most of them come in the form of kits with easy-to-follow instructions.

While some in-ground pools come in similar kit forms, they’re not as easy to put in. Professionals have to come in and excavate the area. That in itself is a ton of work.

Before you get to the excavation part of the process, you may have to get special permits. It can take several weeks to get the paperwork back. If you just want to put a pool up and swim, you’re better off going with an above-ground one.

Appearance

There are tons of creative in-ground pool ideas that you can play around with. They can pretty much be any size and shape that you want. The only limitation you have is the size of your yard.

This being said, you can still make your above-ground pool look cool. You just may have to play around with your landscaping a bit more.

House Value

Homes for sale with swimming pools can go for a lot. In the case of in-ground pools, it probably won’t be near as much as the money that you sank into it.

Still, it’s better than trying to sell a home with an above-ground pool. There are a lot more complications that go into that. This is especially true if in-ground pools are the norm in your area.

Above-Ground Vs. In-Ground Pools

Are you trying to figure out if you should go with above-ground or in-ground pools? There’s a lot of pros and cons to both. At the end of the day, go with whatever you think your family will have the most fun with.

Having memorable summers with those you love is the most important thing.
