Amelia Victoria Babis

Amelia Victoria Babis (born February 21, 1964 in Orange, New Jersey) is the ex-wife of astronaut Mark Kelly. She was married to him from January 7, 1989 until October 2004.

They have two daughters, Claudia Helen Kelly and Claire Sophia Kelly. They lived in Texas at the time of their divorce.

He has served as the junior United States senator from Arizona since 2020. He was elected in the special election following the death of Senator John McCain.

A naval aviator, Kelly flew combat missions during the Gulf War before being selected to become a NASA space shuttle pilot in 1996. He flew STS-108 in 2001, STS-121 in 2006 and STS-134 in 2011.

In 2011 his wife Gabby Giffords was shot during an assassination attempt on January 8, 2011, and Kelly left NASA to help her recover. He also coauthored a book about the incident, Gabby: A Story of Courage and Love.

He and Babis divorced in 2004 and have two daughters, Claudia and Claire. They lived in Galveston County, Texas at the time of their divorce.

Claudia Kelly

Claudia Kelly is the daughter of Mark Kelly, an American politician, former astronaut, and U.S. Navy captain. She is his eldest child.

Claudia was born in 1995 to Amelia Victoria Babis (Mark’s first wife). Her sister Claire Sophia Kelly was born in 1997.

During their 15 years of marriage, Amelia and Mark brought up their daughters Claudia Helen and Claire in Texas.

Her music has been placed on ABC Network’s Station 19, HBO Max’s 12 Dates of Christmas and Love is Blind (Season 3) on Netflix. She’s also performed at festivals such as Milwaukee’s Summerfest and Muscle Shoals Songwriters Festival.

She is a self-proclaimed optimist and has a great appreciation for the power of music and art. She’s currently living in Nashville and has a new album coming out soon.
