Lu Rocker Introduction 

Rocker, the son of Lu Rocker, was a highly touted college baseball player, but his draft status caused him to fall out of the top 100. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 38th round, but his signability concerns prevented him from signing. Instead, Rocker went on to sign with Vanderbilt and pitch for the Commodores. In the 2021 MLB Draft, the New York Mets selected Rocker with the 10th overall pick. He played at North Oconee High School in Bogart, Georgia, and he had an impressive junior and senior year. He pitched in the Frontier League, earning an ERA of 1.35 and striking out 32 batters in 55+ innings.

Rocker was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Tracy and Lu Rocker. His father, Tracy, played professional football for the Washington Redskins. He was drafted in the third round of the 1989 NFL Draft and made the All-Rookie Group. After two seasons with the Redskins, he retired from professional football and played for the Orlando Thunder in the World League of American Football. Lu Rocker is one of the few players of mixed ethnicity in the National Football League.

When he was drafted in the 2022 MLB Draft, Rocker was selected by the Texas Rangers as the third overall pick. His shoulder issues prevented him from signing a contract with the Mets.
