Biography
Maria Elena Boschi was born in Montevarchi, in the province of Arezzo, on January 24th 1981, from Pierluigi Boschi and Stefania Agresti. The father is the provincial manager of Coldiretti, a member of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Arezzo and owner of the agricultural company “Il Palagio”, while the mother is a school manager and active regional exponent of the Democratic Party. Maria Elena grows up in Laterina, always in the province of Arezzo, where it is well integrated into parish life, is indeed altar girl, catechist and also volunteer. He graduated from the high school of Arezzo with full marks and enrolled in the Faculty of Law at the University of Florence. He graduated with 110 cum laude and became an expert on the subject of the chair of commercial law, also in Florence, where he then obtained a master in corporate law. He practices as a lawyer in Florence and in 2008 enters politics: he is the spokesperson for those who support Michele Ventura (PD) against the president of the Province of Florence Matteo Renzi. Political career
It is 2008 when he enters politics, as a spokesperson for those who support Michele Ventura (PD) against the president of the Province of Florence Matteo Renzi. When the candidate Renzi wins the elections and becomes mayor of the capital of Tuscany, Boschi embarks on a political relationship that will become more and more solid, becoming a leading figure in the Renziano team.
On the occasion of the 2013 political elections, Maria Elena is a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies for the Tuscany District, being elected and later becoming a member and secretary of the 1st Constitutional Affairs Commission, of the Presidency of the Council and Interior of the Chamber of Deputies. When Matteo Renzi wins the political elections, Boschi becomes a member of the National Secretariat of the PD, as Head of Institutional Reforms. It was 2014 when, after the fall of the Letta government (from which Nunzia De Girolamo resigned), Boschi was appointed minister without portfolio for constitutional reforms and for relations with Parliament for Renzi’s government. Shortly thereafter she was given the mandate to implement the Renzian government program and in 2016 also those of the equal opportunities and those for international adoptions.
Together with Prime Minister Renzi, Boschi, is known for having conceived the proposed constitutional amendment concerning the reform of the senate, in order to achieve perfect bicameralism; the text of the proposal of the proposal, after being approved by the Senate and the House, the famous reform, known as Italicum, is rejected in the constitutional referendum of 2016. After graduating in Law and specializing in corporate law, Maria Elena Boschi, works in a law firm in Florence, specifically as a civil lawyer specializing in: corporate and business law, listed company law and banking law. Banca Etruria
When in 2015, the Movimento 5 Stelle requests a no-confidence motion due to the “save banks” decree, among the banks affected by the aforementioned decree there is the Banca Etruria, of which Maria Elena’s father was vice president. Believed to be involved in some way, Boschi has never actually been investigated since, in 2020 lbankruptcy charge for the father is dismissed and deemed irrelevant. The only penalty suffered by Pierluigi Boschi was the fine of 144 thousand euros to be paid to the Bank of Italy for omissions or errors in reporting to the authorities. The public accusation against Maria Elena concerns the “Gold advice”: an alleged high payment to try to figure out how to merge the ruined banks with other institutions.

A documented‘phone tapping, of those interested in the matter (Federica Guidi, minister of economic development, and comrade Gianluca Gemelli), in which it is said that Boschi, aware of the offense, would be willing to propose an amendment in favor of Gemelli.

It is November 2020 when Maria Elena Boschi is registered in the register of suspects for the Florence Public Prosecutor’s Office on charges of: illicit financing. The minister (together with Matteo Renzi, Alberto Bianchi, Marco Carrai and Luca Lotti) through the Open Foundation, would have received illicit funding on an ongoing basis. Through the association, therefore, the suspects would have received money illegally, in order to finance the party.
