The real name of the Berlin-born pop singer Roland Kaiser is less glamorous on Ronald Keiler. His first single was released in 1974 – his fan base now comprises three generations, he can look back on over 90 million records sold and countless gold and platinum awards. The name Roland Kaiser is a guarantee that Schlager fans ensure that the halls are sold out. Stars like Andrea Berg and Helene Fischer also look up to this hit legend. Roland Kaiser – how it all began
The singer grew up in post-war West Berlin with a foster mother who raised him alone. He was orphaned at the age of 15. After completing school, he learned the profession of automobile salesman, and later he worked in the advertising department of the car dealership. At the beginning of the 70s he was on the road as a telegram messenger, and in order to be able to earn a little extra money, he appeared as a pop singer at weddings and other festivities. Luckily for Roland Kaisers, the producers Gerd Kampf and Thomas Meisel noticed him during these performances.
During the first single What has become of her? In 1974 it went largely unnoticed, but in 1976 it landed at number 14 in the German single charts. The followed in 1977 first top ten placement with Seven barrels of wine. In 1980 Roland Kaiser tried his hand at the German qualification for the Eurovision Grand Prix, and ended up in 8th place.

Also in 1980 he published his most successful single to date Santa Maria, which has already been sold 1.2 million times. This hit also earned him the first gold record. From 1995 to 2001 Roland was Kaiser’s song Everything you want the theme song for the RTL series Dr. Stefan Frank – the doctor whom women trust.
Roland Kaiser still impresses with numerous live performances and is a welcome guest on television and radio. He is also active as a songwriter for many artist colleagues, for example for Milva, Nana Mouskouri, Peter Maffay and the band Karat.
Health problems
At the turn of the millennium, Roland Kaiser announced that he suffered from the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD. While he continued to perform consistently for a few years, an acute worsening of his illness forced him to take a break in 2009/2010. A lung transplant was performed in early 2010, from which he recovered well and was able to shine again on TV in the fall. The comeback album Everything is possible joins his successes, and the following albums also reached top ten positions in the German charts.
Roland Kaiser is due to his own biography active in charity in many areas: Institutions for children and the topic of organ donation make him a patron, ambassador and board member of associations, hospices and foundations.
Kaisermania
His too great event, the Kaisermaniahe resumed after his recovery. This is the most popular event of the German hit, four evenings with Roland Kaiser on the banks of the Dresden Elbe as part of the film nights. In 2019, an impressive 50,000 tickets were sold for this mega-event in just 30 minutes.
Privately, he is third married to Silvia, with whom he has two children. Another son comes from a previous relationship. He still has many dreams for the rest of his life. A house on Sylt and a plane of their own in the meantime, however, he can cross it off the list.
