In addition, he has received several personal awards, although in the past he never tire of pointing out that he was only a member of a special age group of Manchester players. In England this generation of players is known as “The Class of 92“, Which also included David Beckham, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes. After his time as a player, Giggsy was initially assistant coach of Manchester United under Louis van Gaal. As a co-owner of the Salford City team, he is also involved there. He has been the head coach of the Welsh national team since 2018.

Ryan Giggs’ loyalty to Manchester United is paying off

The club’s loyalty to Manchester United was rewarded not only by the fans in the form of recognition and frenetic admiration, but also by “his club” in the form of long-term, well-paid contracts. After he made his professional debut for Manchester United in 1991, his contract was adapted to the performance two years later. His income for the years 1993-1997 was 1.2 million euros (987,000 British pounds), which was remarkable for the circumstances at the time and for a player his age.

However, he only signed the nominally best contract as a licensed player in 1999. The then five-year contract secured Giggs Guaranteed salary of 3.4 million euros (2.8 million British pounds) plus bonus payments, which are said to have increased the salary considerably, especially in the very successful years. In the 2013/2014 season, in which he also worked as an assistant coach alongside David Moyes for the first time in addition to his playing activities, he earned the equivalent of 4.7 million euros.

The Ryan Giggs Ltd generated significant surpluses in 2011 alone and increased Giggs’ income to 10.5 million euros (8.59 million British pounds) in addition to the player’s salary. In 2012 business was less successful, but Giggs was still able to post total revenues of 7.8 million euros (6.4 million British pounds).

This mix of player salaries, entrepreneurship and his engagements as Advertising media for various well-known companies such as Puma or Reebok let Giggs’ Total assets estimated at 57 million euros to grow. Logically, your own residence, a stately home in Worsley (Greater Manchester) valued at 6 million euros (5 million British pounds) and your preference for expensive sports cars are not financially significant. In addition to some high-priced sedans and SUVs, his fleet also includes his beloved ones Bentley Convertibles worth several hundred thousand euros.

Ryan Giggs’ new challenge as (co) coach of ManU

Although Giggs started the 2013/14 season as a playing assistant coach under the chief coach David Moyes and was even used in the game against Crystal Palace on February 22 of this year, he took over less than two months later on April 22nd, 2014 as interim trainer leading the team from Manchester United. By the end of the season, Ryan Giggs will face the new challenge of directing the games from the sidelines instead of tearing himself apart on the field for the team and its fans. At the last home game of the 13/14 season (May 6, 2014) at the Theater of Dreams, the interim coach changed hands in the 70th minute and let himself be celebrated with tears in what was supposed to be his last game for the Red Devils.

Giggs remained from the 2014/15 season under David Moyes to 2015/16 under Louis van Gaal as an assistant coach in order to support Manchester United on old successes, such as under Sir Alex Ferguson. Since this did not succeed, however, the Dutch coach was fired at the end of the 2016 season. José Mourinho took over the office and took his own coaching staff with him, so that Giggsy did not have another place in the Manchester United coaching team.

Ryan Giggs was introduced as coach of the Welsh national team on January 15, 2018. As national coach, he is said to only earn £ 300,000 a year and is probably an affair of the heart.
